SCP-R002: Life-Absorbing Goldfish

Item #: SCP-R002

Containment Class: Euclid

Clearance Level 3: Confidential

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R002 is to be kept in a 30m x 30m room guarded by two (2) armed personnel at all times. Guards must undergo weekly doctor checkups on site for possible illnesses due to prolonged exposure to the effects of SCP-R002. Access is restricted to only allow level 3 personnel or higher to enter SCP-R002’s containment chamber.

At no time should any living organism be brought inside SCP-R002’s containment chamber, with the exception of testing or preset times of “feeding”. Any personnel wishing to conduct tests on SCP-R002 must contact Dr. S██████ for permission to do so, and must be accompanied by at least two (2) level 4 clearance personnel  and at least one (1) living organism to stay nearest to SCP-R002 for the duration of the tests. (See addendum tests R002-1 through -8 for detailed testing results.)

Daily “feeding” has to be conducted by a D-class personnel, placing two (2) mass bred normal lab rats in the containment chamber as a life source for SCP-R002. Cleaning of the aquarium is done by internal robotics, as it is too dangerous for personnel to perform.

Description: SCP-R002 consists of two (2) male goldfish (Carassius auratus), hereafter referred to as SCP-R002-01 and SCP-R002-02. Both goldfish are about 7-8 cm in length and appear to be rather old or unhealthy, however don’t show any sign of further aging and/or any illnesses, being biologically perfectly healthy. Both still remain bright orange in color, instead of the expected fading white of older specimens. SCP-R002-02 has one white spot, suspected to have been an injury at some point. They are being kept in a standard fifty litre (50L) aquarium of the brand [REDACTED], decorated with several plastic plants, rocks and shells. The goldfish themselves could not be traced back to any known pet shop.

SCP-R002-01 and -02 seem to absorb the life force of all surrounding living beings in a radius of approximately ten meters (10m). Organisms whose life force is drained will show a decrease in organ and immune system functions and an accelerated rate of aging. Due to these anomalous properties, SCP-R002-01 and -02 technically do not require to directly consume nutrition, but will still do so if given any. What exactly this absorbed life force entails is currently under study by Dr. S██████.

The absorption of life force of other organisms theoretically makes SCP-R002-01 and -02 immortal, immune to any illnesses and aging processes, however are not invulnerable to physical injury. Any physical injury afflicted to them will, however, heal an exceptionally amount faster than in normal species when a source of life force is present. Age determination is impossible due to these anomalous effects.

Testing to acquire immortality similar to or through the effects of SCP-R002 suggested by Dr. S██████. Pending for approval by O5-command.

Discovery: SCP-R002 was first brought to the foundation’s attention on ██/██/200█ when reports of a strange illness that seemed to cause accelerated aging in one specific family surfaced. Family ████████ lived in [DATA EXPUNGED], Europe. Two foundation agents traced the source of the anomalous illness to an aquarium housing two goldfish. Family ████████ had been exposed to SCP-R002 on a daily basis for several hours, due to it being stationed in the dining room. The aquarium was taken into foundation custody and brought to site-██ where it was properly contained. The two agents were severely ill after transporting SCP-R002 to the site. One of the agents, agent L████ died of the unidentified illness, the other agent, agent T██████ made a full recovery, however aged approximately ██ years.

Addendum R002-A:

SCP-R002 testing logs. Reports must consist of:
– Organism brought into the containment chamber.
– Time until death of the organism.
– Test results and added notes.

Test R002-1: Date: 28/██/20██

Organism: Lab rat placed at 1m distance from SCP-R002.
Time until death: Subject died in 2 hours time.
Notes: Subject showed signs of several illnesses before death. Subject recovered for dissection and further study.

Test R002-2: Date: 28/██/20██

Organism: Lab rat placed at 5m distance from SCP-R002.
Time until death: Subject died in 3.5 hours time.
Notes: Absorbing took 1.5 hours longer than the initial test, suggesting a relation between distance to SCP-R002 and the time necessary for complete absorption of the subject’s life force.

Test R002-3: Date: 29/██/20██

Organism: Lab rat placed at 10m distance from SCP-R002.
Time until death: Subject died in 8 hours time.
Notes: Significant increase in time until death of the subject observed might indicate the approach of the maximum range of the effects of SCP-R002.

Test R002-4: Date: 31/██/20██

Organism: Lab rat placed at 15m distance from SCP-R002.
Time until death: No signs of illness or aging shown in the subject, even after 2 days of exposure.
Notes: Maximum range determined to be somewhere between ten (10) and fifteen (15) meters.

Test R002-5: Date: 06/██/20██

Organism: 1m² patch of grass.
Time until death: Grass withered after approximately two (2) minutes within the containment area. Grass closest to SCP-R002 withered first.
Notes: SCP-R002 will drain life forces closest to it first before moving on to other sources.

Test R002-6: Date: 13/██/20██

Organism: Normal house cat.
Time until death: Subject died after 13 hours of exposure to SCP-R002.
Notes: Time needed for a full absorption differs on the size or lifespan of the organism introduced to SCP-R002. Subject showed usual signs of illness and aging before death.

Test R002-7: Date: 25/██/20██

Organism: D-6834, male, 37 years of age. No known illnesses.
Time of exposure: Subject removed from containment cell after 48 hours of exposure to SCP-R002. Subject showed signs of various illnesses, including headaches, high body temperatures (40 degrees Celsius), regurgitation and even cancerous tumors. Subject aged approximately 26 years during the exposure.
Notes: Time until death for a mid thirties healthy human estimated at approximately 60 hours at close range and 10 days at maximum range. Subject made a full recovery of all illnesses.

Test R002-8: Date: 15/██/20██

Organism: D-7134, male, 56 years of age. No known illnesses.
Time of exposure: Subject removed after 36 hours of exposure to SCP-R002. Subject showed signs of several serious illnesses and was hospitalized. Subject died of the unidentified illness a few days later.
Notes: Time needed for a full absorption seems to depend on the remaining lifespan of the subject.

Addendum R002-B: More illnesses reported by the guards, suggesting the range of SCP-R002 is increasing. Causes of the increase are speculated to be the increased life force absorption during testing. Further testing is discouraged. Containment cell expanded from 20m x 20m to 30m x 30m.

Object class upgrade to Keter pending.

SCP-R003: Mill That Never Stands Still

Item #: SCP-R003

Containment Class: Euclid

Clearance Level 2: Restricted

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R003 is to be contained in a 10m x 10m room with 5cm thick walls of reinforced steel and a constant air draft going through it of at least 40 km/h. Wind should always be blowing against the front of the windmill. In case that the artificial air draft stops working, a fan connected to an external power source is to be activated until the normal air draft is restored. Vents need to be checked up monthly for any damage.

The hinges on the windmill and SCP-R003-01 are to be oiled bi-monthly by two (2) at least level 2 clearance personnel. In no circumstances should the windmill ever be stopped, doing so will result in demotion to D-class or termination.

Description: SCP-R003 consists of an aluminum windmill mounted on a carved tree and a puppet that looks to be rotating the windmill. The sculpture is in total 5.2 meters tall. It is unclear whether the windmill rotates because of wind drafts or the puppet, or both.

The puppet, designated SCP-R003-01, is carved from spruce wood, painted to have human-like features and dressed in traditional clothes. There is no branding on the clothes worn by SCP-R003-01. SCP-R003-01 is chained to the carved tree by the neck, on the back of the puppet are five carved words to be found, stating; ‘It’s Calm Before The Storm’. SCP-R003-01 does not show any signs of sapience or sentience.

SCP-R003 seems to work like any normal windmill when there is an air current of at least 5 km/h. When rotating normally, the blades on the windmill turn in a clockwise direction. If the air current is to drop below 5 km/h, the puppet will proceed to frantically rotate the windmill counter-clockwise at high speeds, making dozens of rotations per second and creating air drafts of up to 110 km/h comparable to hurricanes.

If the windmill is ever forcibly stopped or gets stuck, SCP-R003-01 will violently rotate the windmill counter-clockwise until it is loose, continuing like this for several hours. When this happens the windmill will make approximately hundred rotations per second, creating air drafts of up to 150-180 km/h, faster than any recorded hurricane. These extremely destructive winds can cause catastrophic natural disasters and immense property damage. How the windmill is able to sustain these rapid rotations is unclear.

Discovery: SCP-R003 was found by the foundation on ██/██/199█ shortly after a sudden and mysterious in origin hurricane struck the mountainous areas in [DATA EXPUNGED]. Three (3) nearby stationed foundation agents looked into the bizarre storm and traced the origin to the windmill. SCP-R003 was successfully contained, without the windmill stopping, at site-██.

A cover-up story was made and successfully executed as being a [REDACTED], which only happens every ███ years. Locals were administered class-B amnestics to contain SCP-R003 without raising suspicion.

Addendum: Testing to use SCP-R003 for power generation approved by O5-command.
Tests should be conducted with extreme caution by personnel of at least level 4 clearance. Failure to do so can result in high property damage on site-██ and could cause containment breaches of several other SCPs contained at the site.” – O5-█.

SCP-R004: Reverse Waterfall

Item #: SCP-R004

Containment Class: Safe

Clearance Level 2: Restricted

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R004 is contained behind a dam-like structure, publicly as a groundwater filtration station. The area around the river leading up to SCP-R004 is fenced off and made inaccessible to civilians. Several foundation guards are to be stationed around the fencing at all times.

If civilians are caught coming close to the fencing, they need to be reminded that the area is off-limits and administered class-B amnestics if necessary. If trespassers are found within the area or close to the waterfall itself, they are to be detained and questioned and treated with class-A amnestics before release.

When entering SCP-R004’s containment area, proper protective clothing and masks should be worn at all times. The water should never be inhaled or ingested. Samples of the water in SCP-R004 can be taken by level 2 clearance personnel and higher for research purposes.

Description: SCP-R004 is a waterfall that falls upwards into a lake at the top of ███████ mountain located near [REDACTED], Europe. The river going up to SCP-R004 also flows upwards. The origin of this river is found to be a water basin ███ km underground. The underground source seems to hold an infinite amount of water, even though rainwater does not seem to be able to reach this deep. The water in the lake at the top of the mountain seems to lose its upward flowing properties, instead it evaporates at an accelerated rate and condensates to form clouds, similar to how cooling towers do.

Drinking the water from SCP-R004 will result in almost immediate regurgitations, due to the water still flowing upwards. Similar effects happen when inhaling water particles in the air, resulting in heavy coughing.

Addendum R004-A: Personnel attempting to drink SCP-R004’s water noted a vile acid-like taste. Research of water samples showed a high concentration of gaseous carbon dioxide (CO2) and lower concentrations of nitrogen (N2) and ammonia (NH3). How this composition is able to make the water flow upwards is unclear. The water is also rich in various minerals and is on average 26 degrees Celsius in temperature.

Addendum R004-B: The upwards flowing water from SCP-R004 could be used in various technological instruments. Research to use the properties of this water for technological advancement is being conducted by Dr. S██████. Any personnel wanting to suggest or test any technological applications of SCP-R004’s water should contact Dr. S██████ for approval.

SCP-R005: He Who Waits

Item #: SCP-R005

Containment Class: Keter

Clearance Level 5: Top Secret

Special Containment Procedures: A minimum of four (4) floodlights of ten thousand Lux (10 000 lx) are to be stationed around SCP-R005 at all times. No other drastic containment measures are necessary to contain SCP-R005 since until present day, SCP-R005 has never been in an active state. As we do not know and can only speculate what R005 is capable of in an “awakened” state, containment procedures for an event when SCP-R005 becomes active are, as of writing this article, impossible. In an event like this, the entire site should quickly evacuate and an on site nuclear warhead is to be detonated.

Standard guarding of SCP-R005’s burial site is mandatory and only level 4 clearance personnel are allowed access. SCP-R005’s sarcophagus should at no time be opened, doing so will result in termination.

Description: SCP-R005 is a tall humanoid with an abnormally long build standing 2.6 meters in height. The entity’s facial features are undefined, lacking a nose, ears and hair growth. SCP-R005 is tattooed on almost every surface of it’s skin, except for a blank space where the heart is situated, suggesting occult significance. From it’s empty mouth and eye sockets continuously leaks a dark shadow-like smoke. It has remained in a comatose-like state for an undefined amount of time. When or if SCP-R005 will awake is unclear. See addendum R005-1 for more info on SCP-R005’s sarcophagus results and findings.

SCP-R005 was found contained in a 3 meter long and 1.2 meter across elliptical sarcophagus, carved out of obsidian and volcanic basalt, decorated with human bones. The sarcophagus is supposedly crafted by an unknown ancient civilization and has carvings depicting various ritualistic scenes. Also found on the sarcophagus are several runic symbols that also appear on SCP-R005’s body. These symbols are not identified in any known language or origin. A team of foundation linguists is currently working on a translation.

If the sarcophagus is forcefully opened from outside, SCP-R005 will subconsciously create shadowy appendages from it’s sides that will engage on any living being approximately 5 meters from it. The appendages will quickly enter the victim’s body through [DATA EXPUNGED] and will retract several seconds later, leaving the deceased victim behind. Autopsy of the victim reveals no wounds or physical damage done to the body, other than a smoke-like substance leaking from every cavity, most notably from the heart, which seems completely filled with the substance. The substance inside the victim’s body did not show any threatening properties during the operations.

Discovery: The sarcophagus was found by a team of archeologists in an underground temple-like structure on ██/██/████ in the region of [REDACTED], ████████. The foundation was contacted when only one of the archeologists returned to the surface in a state of extreme panic and fear. The archeologist, known by the name A█████ █████████, was questioned but could not relay any solid information of what their team discovered or what became of the other members. MTF-Zeta-9 (“Mole Rats”) traced down the temple for further investigation.

The temple could not be traced back to any known culture or ancient civilization and is an estimated ██ million years old. The walls, floor and ceiling are intricately decorated with similar scenes and runic symbols as seen on the sarcophagus.

MTF-Zeta-9 successfully found the chamber where SCP-R005 is being kept. They found the sarcophagus opened, together with the bodies of the 5 remaining archeologists, their bodies leaking a smoke-like substance instead of blood. When closing distance to SCP-R005, a shadowy appendage entered agent K███████’s body and [DATA EXPUNGED]. floodlights seemed to momentarily deter the shadows and SCP-R005 was successfully re-contained in the sarcophagus.

The following is a transcribed audio log of the interview between Dr. G█████████ and the archeologist A█████ █████████ regarding his encounter with SCP-R005 :

Interviewer: Dr. G█████████
Interviewee: A█████ █████████, Age: 2█
Date: 05/██/20██ 2:16 PM

Dr.G: Good afternoon, sir.
A.: <Subject stays silent>
Dr.G: Ok, so, let’s start at the beginning. With how many people were you and what were you looking for there?
A.: We were a team of six.
Dr.G: … And the second question?
A.: We weren’t looking for anything specific, ok? That’s not how the job works.
Dr.G: Then what were you and your colleagues doing in that area?
A.: It was pure chance we found it, I swear. <Subject pauses for a minute>We only got a hint that there might be, you know, cool stuff in that area, since it was still mostly unexplored.
Dr.G: Who gave you the hint?
A.: I don’t know. It was [REDACTED] who called the team together, said he had a lead.
Dr.G: Where exactly is this temple situated? Where can we find it?
A.: You want to go there? You people are insane, no one is supposed to ever go there!
Dr.G: It is our job to find whatever it is you discovered and contain it. And you will help us do that. Where is it situated?
<Subject refuses to reveal the location of the temple>
Dr.G: Look, your cooperation could save countless lives.
A.: I saw what it does to people. I stood there as I watched my team get…
<Subject regurgitates>
Dr.G: What did it do?
A.: It… It… I can’t explain it, sorry.
Dr.G: Did you see what the entity looks like?
A.: Human… or… not quite. It was just laying there, in a sarcophagus. We saw the sarcophagus, assumed whatever was inside of it was dead, and then… We opened it, and…
<Subject shows high levels of panic and fear>
Dr.G: A█████? Are you okay? Can you answer some final questions?
A.: Aaah ha ha aaah… no! Please, no more!
<Subject put his head on the table, arms covering his head, crying>

End of audio log.
Subject was taken away to be questioned at a later date. Second interview yielded no new results. Subject was given a class-C amnestic and was released.

Addendum R005-1: After study of the scenes depicted on SCP-R005’s sarcophagus, we can assume more details about the entity’s effects or purpose. Listed below are the scenes described in detail and what they could represent.

Scene R005-01:

Located on and covering the entire lid of the sarcophagus is the largest scene. It depicts a large sphere around where SCP-R005’s head lies and a tall humanoid figure underneath the sphere with stretched out arms, as if trying to grab the sphere or catch it. The sphere itself has several markings forming a continental outline. It’s vaguely familiar to a late Pangea formation. The sphere, assumed to depict the Earth, is surrounded by flame, potentially indicating an apocalyptic event of some sort. The tall humanoid is speculated to be SCP-R005 itself, further proven by a circular marking on its chest and no facial features other than eyes. In this scene, SCP-R005 has smaller humanoid figures at its feet, bowed down as if in prayer.

Conclusion: From this scene can be concluded that SCP-R005 was referred to as some form of god in ancient times and potentially has ties to apocalyptic events.

Scene R005-02:

On the right side of the sarcophagus there is a scene consisting of two (2) ‘panels’, divided by a broken line.

The left scene depicts the same sphere as in scene R005-1, surrounded by humanoid figures. These figures look to be either in high distress or fear.

The right scene depicts the sphere being embraced by SCP-R005 and is no longer surrounded by flame. The human figures are kneeling beside SCP-R005.

Scene R005-03:

Similar to the sarcophagus’ right side, on the left side there are also 2 ‘panels’.

The left depicts the Earth surrounded by flame like scene R005-01/02. The humanoid figures, however, are facing each other holding weapons from various times. These weapons range from clubs, swords and spears to guns and rocket launchers.

The right depicts SCP-R005 seemingly cutting the Earth in half, diagonally. The human figures are all laying on the ground, presumed dead.

Conclusion: From these scenes (R005-02 and R005-03) we can conclude that SCP-R005 is either a saviour or a bringer of destruction. The most obvious interpretation is that SCP-R005 is capable of saving the Earth from an apocalyptic event, or punishing humans if they brought about the apocalyptic event themselves. Most likely SCP-R005 will awake when such an event is near.

Scene R005-04:

When lifted in an upright state, the back of the sarcophagus looks to be smooth, but when closely inspected it shows almost microscopic carvings. Further research of the back of SCP-R005’s sarcophagus revealed that the back is entirely covered in small one panel scenes. The largest panel found was 200 micrometers x 150 micrometers large.

A list was constructed with resized replicas of most of the scenes. They all show a different apocalyptic event.

These apocalyptic events include:

  • ‘Normal’ events such as: war, excessive usage of nukes, a killer virus and meteorite impacts.
  • ‘Abnormal’ events including containment breaches of known and still unknown Keter-Class SCPs, such as; SCP-███ SCP-169, SCP-231, SCP-610, SCP-2317, SCP-███ and SCP-████ to name a few.

Addendum R005-2: Dr. S██████ suggested possible links to SCP-152, also known as the Book of Endings. Researchers working on site-██ where SCP-152 is being kept and people who have read it, note that they have never heard of any such being as SCP-R005. Almost all scenes depicted on the back of SCP-R005’s sarcophagus, however, seem to be found inside SCP-152 as well.

SCP-R006: Sunny When It Rains

Item #: SCP-R006

Containment Class: Safe

Clearance Level 1: Unrestricted

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R006 is being kept in Dr. S██████’s locker on site-██. SCP-R006 may never be opened when it is hailing or a thunderstorm outside. It should never be used in public places or for trivial purposes. Testing on SCP-R006 is allowed if a request is approved by Dr. S██████.

Description: SCP-R006 is an umbrella with a dark blue canopy of an unknown material, a cheap plastic handle and stainless steel shaft, joints and stretchers. The umbrella measures 1 metre in diameter when opened. The make and manufacture of the umbrella is unknown and dates back to somewhere in the late 1900’s.

When used in rainy weather while held by a human, it has shown to not block the rain, but rather absorb it. The absorbed rain will be converted into sunlight that shines on the user from underneath the canopy. Subjects have noted a gentle warmth from the light created by SCP-R006. Heavier rains will result in brighter and warmer sunlight created by SCP-R006. Study of the light has shown it to be identical to direct sunlight with normal to slightly higher levels of UV-rays. Caution is advised to protect the user from skin damage as a result from prolonged UV-exposure.

SCP-R006 will also work in the opposite direction. When opened in sunny weather, it will rain on the user from underneath the canopy, seemingly infinitely until the sun stops shining directly upon the top of SCP-R006. The stronger the sunlight , the more rain SCP-R006 will create. The sunlight has to hit SCP-R006 directly, if the sun is blocked by clouds, SCP-R006 will have no effect. How the item absorbs weather conditions and how it transforms these into different weather effects is unclear.

SCP-R006 enters a neutral state when indoors, or outdoors in cloudy weather. In these conditions, SCP-R006 will not produce any weather effects.

Addendum: Different weather conditions were presented to SCP-R006. Below is a list of test results.

Test R006-01: Date: 12/04/200█
Weather: D-4526 holding SCP-R006 in snowfall.
Result: SCP-R006 created a sandstorm.
Notes: Opposites should still result in the same effects. When used in a sandstorm, SCP-R006 should create a snowfall

Test R006-02: Date: 12/04/200█
Weather: D-4526 holding SCP-R006 in a strong sandstorm.
Result: SCP-R006 created a snowstorm.
Notes: Opposite hypothesis confirmed to be true. Intensity relative to each side of SCP-R006 confirmed true as well.

Test R006-03: Date 03/07/200█
Weather: D-4728 holding SCP-R006 in hail.
Results: SCP-R006 seemed to create normal rain at first. Subject reported the rain to be somewhat warm. Later studies revealed the rain to be radioactive and the subject was terminated. Testing room was cleared of radioactive waste as per standard protocol.
Notes: SCP-R006 should from now on never be used in hail storms or weather with possible hail.

Test R006-04: Date ██/██/20██
Weather: D-5384 holding SCP-R006 and struck by lightning.
Result: Lightning did not reach the subject when struck. SCP-R006 created a rain of small drops of lava and ashes, killing the subject in the process. No damage reported to have been done to SCP-R006.
Notes: “I guess lava and ashes from a volcanic eruption technically counts as precipitation.” – Dr. S██████.

SCP-R007: Behind Every Mask Is Another Mask

Item #: SCP-R007

Containment Class: Euclid

Clearance Level 3: Confidential

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R007 has to be locked in a glass box of at least 1m x 1m x 1m size at all times. Personnel under clearance level 3 are not allowed access to the containment chamber. Personnel working on site need to check in for psychological examinations every month. In case of slight mental instability or exhaustion, said personnel need to be removed from the site immediately.

Tests should be conducted in the presence of at least two level 4 personnel. At all times should personnel keep at least 15m distance from the mask, SCP-R007-1 or any instances of SCP-R007-2.

Description: SCP-R007 is a mask of original design in Greek style. It can be dated back to 500 B.C when theatre accumulated great popularity in ancient Greece. The mask is a one of a kind creation and who the original creator or owner of the mask was is unknown. The mask features an unnaturally wide smile, big frowned eyes and an intricate carved rose flower pattern all over. It is currently being kept at site-██ under observation of Dr. E██ ████████.

SCP-R007 will try to lure in hosts in any way possible. This can range from nice sounds or scents to telepathically talking to potential hosts and brainwashing. Although SCP-R007 was proven to not be sentient, its attempts to communicate are thought to be brain waves sent out from within the mask.

When a human puts on the mask, it will bind itself to the host’s face, hereafter referred to as SCP-R007-1. SCP-R007-1 will then proceed to carry out some sort of art or entertainment practice. These performances occur to be entirely random, having no connection to its host or surroundings. When certain objects are presented, however, SCP-R007-1 will use those for performing. If the needed objects for the performance are not present or removed, SCP-R007-1 will quickly and violently kill its host. SCP-R007 will never repeat the same performance two times in quick succession. An addendum of performances done by SCP-R007-1 and tests of items being introduced to an instance of SCP-R007-1 is included in this document.

When trying to take off the mask of an instance of SCP-R007-1, an instance of SCP-R007-2 will be removed. SCP-R007-2 is a copy of the mask, leaving the original mask underneath the copy, still attached to the host’s face. SCP-R007 can seemingly make infinite copies of itself using this method. The process of copying itself is unknown as SCP-R007 makes an explosion of what seems to be rose petals, entirely obscuring the process. SCP-R007-2 does not seem to have the same effects as the original. It does not attempt to lure in potential hosts and does not make a host perform anything, instead it kills the host immediately. SCP-R007-2 can also be distinguished by its strong scent of roses. The copies are being kept in a separate containment chamber similar to that of the original.

The mask cannot be removed after putting it on. It will only come off by itself at the end of a performance or at the death of the host.

Addendum R007-A: SCP-R007 was first discovered on a dig site in ████████, Greece in 19██. The ongoing digging took place underneath an ancient Greek amphitheatre. The mask incited several incidents caused by workers persuaded into wearing the mask. The Foundation was notified of these happenings and an MTF was soon dispatched to take control over the situation. SCP-R007 was safely secured, together with a few copies found on site. Any other instances of SCP-R007-2 were destroyed. SCP-R007 and it’s copies were transported to site-██, where it has been contained under supervising of Dr. E██ ████████.

Addendum R007-B: Following is a log of recorded ‘performances’ of SCP-R007-1 under testing circumstances.

Test R007-1A:
Test in an empty room. D-6124 told to wear the mask.
SCP-R007-1 proceeds to dance in various styles on a professional level for 1.5 hours. Subject previously had little to no experience with dancing.
Subject showed severe exhaustion after the mask removed itself.

Test R007-1B:

SCP-R008: Purple Flame

Item #: SCP-R008

Containment Class: Euclid

Clearance Level 3: Confidential

Special Containment Procedures: One instance of SCP-R008 is to be kept alight in a 5m x 5m x 4m hermetically sealed room with pure iron encased walls for research purposes. SCP-R008’s containment chamber has to be provided with a steady amount of carbon monoxide (CO) gas through a specially installed ventilation system.

Weekly check ups need to be conducted by level 1 clearance personnel. Check ups consist of checking the functionality of the CO ventilation system, removal of excess carbon ashes and report of SCP-R008’s state, temperature and color.

Research has to be conducted by at least two (2) level 3 personnel, wearing proper protective gear. Bringing any loose carbon based material into SCP-R008’s containment chamber without prior allowance from the head researcher is prohibited.

An MTF needs to be on standby at all times to extinguish any instances found of SCP-R008 outside of Site-██.

Description: SCP-R008 appears to be a purple tinted fire but its properties are far from ‘normal’ fire. For ordinary fire, it has been discovered that when certain elements are burned, various colors of flames can be produced. This was the first conclusion when this particular outbreak was discovered, however its true nature is far more anomalous.

After discovery of this fire and various reports of similar incidents got the attention of the Foundation, MTF Epsilon-9 “Fire Eaters” were shortly dispatched to the site of the fire. MTF agents noted that there was no heat coming from the fire at all and was freezing to the touch, even through their protective gear. One agent attempted to add water to the flames in order to extinguish them, but this only resulted in a violent flare-up of SCP-R008. SCP-R008 also seemed to not produce any smoke but pure carbon ashes. Readings of the atmosphere around SCP-R008 show an abnormally high amount of pure oxygen (O2) and carbon monoxide (CO), which is unheard of  for normal fires. The high amount of carbon monoxide was traced back to a malfunctioning boiler in the bathroom, which is located next to the room of the fire’s origin. After repairing said boiler, the amount of carbon monoxide in the air subsided quickly and SCP-R008 slowly burned out until only a small flame was left. Assuming that SCP-R008 consumes CO as fuel, the small flame was contained in a burn-resistant box with a constant CO supply and brought to Site-██ for containment and research.

The colors of SCP-R008 range from dark purple to blue violet, the cause for these colors are unknown, but the exact tint depends on the amount of fuel (CO) added to SCP-R008 and its temperature. In ideal conditions, SCP-R008 consumes CO as fuel, breaking it down into pure oxygen gas and carbon ashes. It can also consume any plant based material and water as fuel, but will burn in weaker flames. SCP-R008 burns at temperatures between 50 and 150K (Kelvin), making it extremely cold to the touch. It freezes any living being instantly on contact, causing death after merely ██ seconds after exposure.

When water is added, it will instantly freeze and be broken down into oxygen and frozen hydrogen gas, resulting in a flare-up of bright violet flames. When a large amount of CO gas is introduced to SCP-R008, it will immediately and strongly flare up in dark purple flames.

Addendum R008-A: Dr. D████ suggested a relation between SCP-009 and SCP-R008. The possibility exists that SCP-R008 is in some way related to SCP-009, be it that they originate from the same exoplanet, other reality or alternate universe. It shows similar properties as SCP-009, as in it has a reversed working mechanism and properties from its normal counterpart, a similar color swap and [REDACTED]. This theory is not confirmed until solid evidence is found. More research into this theory is required and a request to do so is pending for approval by the O5-Council.

Addendum R008-B: ‘We have decided to allow testing between the two SCP’s just this once, even though it’s against our policy, since the striking resemblance between the two is highly peculiar. We will provide you and your team with a separate excluded research area. Take high caution when conducting tests since both SCP’s are highly dangerous and results of interaction are still unknown and could cause serious damage. I hope you know what you are doing, D████’ – O5-█.

Research involving interactive contact between SCP-009 and SCP-R008 approved by O5-█.

Addendum R008-C:

Test R008-1: 10 mL (millilitres) of solid SCP-009 at room temperature brought into SCP-R008’s flames in an enclosed area. The solid SCP-009 matter slowly melted and vaporized like normal water would in a normal flame. SCP-R008 is noted to burn at slightly higher temperatures.

Test R008-2: 1 L (litre) of fluid SCP-009 at -25ºC poured over a SCP-R008 instance. SCP-R008 was instantly put out and SCP-009 almost completely evaporated. SCP-009 could be used to extinguish any instances of SCP-R008 but the reaction created an explosion in O2 release, breaking free from the enclosed test container. The air released was contaminated by SCP-009 and resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED]. Further testing disallowed.

SCP-R009: Weight Is Relative

Item #: SCP-R009

Containment Class: Safe

Clearance Level 2: Restricted

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R009 is to be kept in a standard containment room with minimum air movement. SCP-R009 always needs to be operative, connected to an external powersource in case of outage. The containment chamber needs to be equipped with at least three (3) neutral weights of between 1 and 3 kg (kilograms). One weight is to be bound always to SCP-R009, a second one needs to be put onto SCP-R009. Extra weights are for reserve.

Testing on SCP-R009 is allowed to personnel of at least Level 2 clearance. Objects brought into containment need to be checked and approved by an on-site senior researcher. Turning off SCP-R009 in a bound state is strictly prohibited and will result in termination.

Description: SCP-R009 is a standard use laboratory scale branded ‘DeltaRange’, type Mettler PC 4400. It was found and taken into foundation custody by Foundation personnel in a raid on an illegal laboratory, similar to the raid where SCP-170 was discovered, and probably belonging to the same group.

The scale is worn down from years of use but is still in perfect working conditions. It has the words ‘DO NOT TURN OFF’ written on it, signifying the importance that it needs to be left in an operating state.

SCP-R009 has anomalous effects involving an object’s weight. When in neutral state, it is not bound to, or affecting any object. To bind an object to SCP-R009, the object must be placed on top of the scale. Next the ‘tare’ function needs to be executed by pressing the bar marked with ‘DO NOT TURN OFF’. The display will, as expected, turn to zero, but so too will the object placed unto SCP-R009’s weight. SCP-R009-01, the object now bound to SCP-R009, essentially becomes weightless and will float away on the slightest air movements, unregarding of it’s original weight or size.

As soon as a second object is placed on SCP-R009, SCP-R009-01 will assume the weight of the second object, SCP-R009-02. SCP-R009-01 will only copy SCP-R009-02’s weight, its mass will always stay continuous. This effect lasts until SCP-R009-02 is removed from SCP-R009. SCP-R009-01 will return to its original weight when the tare function is repeated with SCP-R009-02 on SCP-R009. SCP-R009-01 will return to its normal state and SCP-R009-02 will lose its weight and become bound to SCP-R009 as the new SCP-R009-01.

Addendum R009-A: Tests have shown that SCP-R009 can withstand high amounts of weight. A normal scale of its make has a weight limit of 10 kg (kilograms), at which point the scale will give an error message. Tests on SCP-R009 however have shown it able to accurately calculate weight of above 90 kg.

It was also discovered that when the tare function is used when multiple objects are placed on SCP-R009, all objects will become weightless and thus bound as a singular SCP-R009-01 instance. When SCP-R009-02 is placed on top of the scale, then it’s weight will be divided evenly among all three objects making up the SCP-R009-01 instance.

Addendum R009-B: Incident R009-a: Dr.███████ turned off SCP-R009 when [DATA EXPUNGED] bound to SCP-R009. This event followed in the complete annihilation of [REDACTED]. Dr.███████ terminated from further research. Stronger rules and punishments will be applied to turning off SCP-R009 during testing.

SCP-R010: An Alien Nightsky

Item #: SCP-R010

Containment Class: Safe

Clearance Level 3: Confidential

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-R010 needs to be kept in a fully darkened room with minimal incidence of light. The containment room is circular, dome shaped, with a diameter of at least 25 m (meters). SCP-R010 needs to be stationed in the middle of the chamber at all times. No light emitting objects with a Lux of 10 or more are allowed inside of SCP-R010’s containment chamber. All lenses and mirrors need to be cleaned bi-monthly and before usage.

SCP-R010 is only accessible to on-site teams of astronomers and astrologers. Anyone desiring to use SCP-R010 needs to file a request to those teams or the on-site senior researcher.

Description: SCP-R010 is a white equatorial reflector telescope of unknown make and manufacture. It was built in the early twenty first century and stands two meters (2 m) tall at maximum height. SCP-R010 has five (5) attachable lenses, reaching a maximum magnification of 60x.

When seen through while pointed at the night sky, SCP-R010 will not show the expected view of our stars and moon. Rather it will show a different collection of stars. This was discovered when foundation staff used SCP-R010 for the first time after making sure the object was harmless. When Dr. S██████ looked through SCP-R010 to find Polaris, he found no stars bright enough to be Polaris in the area. After using SCP-R010 for some time, even an unknown ‘moon’ and at least three objects thought to be planets have been found.

A special containment and research chamber has been built for SCP-R010 on site-██. The on-site team of astronomers and astrologers is currently researching and mapping the stars as seen through SCP-R010. This team or researchers of level 3 clearance and above have access to opening the dome to use SCP-R010. Opening the dome is only allowed at night. When used in daylight, SCP-R010 will reflect light strong enough to blind the operator almost instantly.

SCP-R010 was discovered in a second hand store located in [REDACTED], after it got returned several times. New owners returned it to the store with reports ranging from  that ‘the stupid thing is broken’ or even blinded a █ year old child, who tried using it in broad daylight. The Foundation investigated the store and confiscated the telescope, replacing it to site-██.

Addendum R010-A: Months of extensive research into SCP-R010 and the stars and moons it shows has lead to the conclusion that SCP-R010 is linked to a telescope on an exoplanet, designated SCP-R010-β, and shows the sky as seen from Planet-R010-β. The team found the location of the previously undiscovered Planet-R010-β through the orientation of the stars seen through SCP-R010, and they eventually located our sun. The planet’s host star is located within our galaxy approximately ██.██ lightyears away from the sun.

How this link came to be, how there came to be a telescope on Planet-R010-β (presumably identical to SCP-R010-α) or if there could be civilization on the planet are all unknown and will most likely not be discovered, solved or explained in the near future.

Addendum R010-B: All testing on making use of SCP-R010 to learn about Planet-R010-β ended in failure, aside from some basic factors. Looking in daylight is impossible due to the extremely low amount of light refraction. At night time, no cloud or other object has ever been spotted blocking the stars. Trying to lower SCP-R010 to look at the planet’s landscape has proven futile. Nothing is visible between an angle of 0 degrees and 35 degrees. SCP-R010 is also unable to go lower than horizontal.

However there are a few properties that can be determined. There is very little light refraction from the atmosphere, leading to the conclusion that the planet must have a very thin, if not no atmosphere. From the speed of the stars passing by can be concluded that the planet turns around itself at roughly the same rate as Earth. It does a full day cycle in 24 hours and 06 minutes.
